ABOUT US
SERVING THE LAKE TAHOE AREA SINCE 1994
Uncommon Kitchen is a small, locally-owned restaurant located in Tahoe City, California. The restaurant serves up a variety of global comfort foods, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu includes items such as sandwiches, salads, soups, and baked goods. We are located inside New Moon Natural Foods store in Tahoe City, a tiny kitchen nestled into the back corner. Many of our cold items, such as salads and spring rolls, can also be found in the New Moon store in Truckee, CA.
We have operated two restaurants in the Lake Tahoe area. In Tahoma, The Stony Ridge Cafe, open from 1994-2005 and in Tahoe City, Uncommon Kitchen open 2006-present. That is why you might notice in some places we are seen as Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen. We wanted any of our former guests at Stony Ridge Cafe to be able to find us. The Stony Ridge Cafe started as a breakfast restaurant and morphed into a sometime dinner establishment, as well. We had many loyal customers who supported us over those years and when the time came to move to Tahoe City, some of those original recipes came along, too. We no longer make eggs benedict, but now we offer lots of other interesting items.
Everything is made in house, including our daily selection of fresh breads. We want to offer delicious healthy food without fuss or frills. We are mostly to-go, but offer a few seats at a bar inside and a couple of outdoor tables.
Uncommon Kitchen is a great place to stop for a casual meal while you’re exploring Tahoe City. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is inviting, and you can feel good about supporting a sustainable business.
